Join the World Affairs Council of Atlanta and Jose Fernandez, Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and The Environment, U.S. Department of State to learn about Foreign Policy In Action: How Diplomacy Works for Atlanta. This fireside chat program focuses on how the U.S. Department of State connects foreign policy and economic development to entice companies to invest in communities around Atlanta and across the State of Georgia. At the U.S. State Department, Under Secretary and his team work with local and state communities to focus on increasing trade relations, growth of foreign direct investments, and emphasize the importance of public-private partnerships.
Jose W. Fernandez was confirmed by the Senate as Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment on August 6, 2021. He leads the State Department’s bureaus and offices that stand at the center of the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts on climate change, clean energy, health, supply chain security, and other economic priorities. Under Secretary Fernandez is also the United States Alternate Governor to the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
