About the event
With "tariffs" and "trade" dominating the headlines in 2025, Americans are revisiting their high school economics lessons to understand the implications. The U.S. threat to impose high tariffs on its largest trading partners could significantly impact Georgia's economy, which recorded $25 billion in trade with Mexico and $13.9 billion with Canada in 2024. Key products exchanged between Georgia, Canada, and Mexico include civilian aircraft and parts, motor vehicles, data processing machines, telephone sets, and medical devices. However, the flow of immigration and fentanyl between these countries has sparked difficult discussions, echoing American poet Robert Frost's assertion that "good fences make good neighbors."
