About the event
A senior official in the first Trump Administration said discussing Latin America was the equivalent of your mom "telling you to eat your vegetables." In the second Trump Administration, Latin America has moved to center stage with top priorities including immigration and the Southern Border.
On March 2, the US imposed steep tariffs on Mexico and Canada. Two days later, President Trump told Congress the United States is "taking back" the Panama Canal. China, meanwhile, is flexing its economic muscles in South America and the U.S. appears to be on a collision course with Brazil, the region's largest country and biggest economy.
This dialogue with Brian Winter will explore the impact of past and current developments on Latin America and what the future holds.
