About the World Affairs Council of Atlanta
The World Affairs Council of Atlanta, a non-profit, non-partisan organization affiliated with the Washington, D.C.-based World Affairs Councils of America and Georgia State University, accepts undergraduate and graduate students as program interns each academic semester. As part of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta team, interns are instrumental in the Council’s ability to deliver relevant and impactful programs and research that inform and challenge new thinking about global issues.
About The Role
Council Interns have the opportunity to come face-to-face with global business leaders, diplomats, experts, and foreign dignitaries who we regularly convene to discuss pressing international issues. As a Program Intern, you will play a key role in the Council’s virtual and in-person programs. The internship is unpaid, but those accepted may be eligible for course credit as determined by their academic department. Intern tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

Audience development and program promotion through the Council’s social media networks, local media, and weekly emails

Researching and gathering speaker and topic information

Assisting with virtual and in-person program execution

Working with the membership team to assist with member retention & engagement

Helping manage the membership database

Helping to design marketing and branding strategies to encourage engagement
Location & Commitments

A minimum of 16 hours per week

This internship will be mostly virtual, with an opportunity to attend some in-person meetings and programs around the Metro-Atlanta area.
Candidate Requirements

Excellent listening and interpersonal communication (verbal/written) skills

Strong interest in international affairs
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and meet deadlines

Stellar data entry and operations skills OR willingness to learn quickly

Technology savvy with social platforms including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and YouTube Live
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office
